Fire protection in Washington Township was first organized in 1919 with a bucket brigade in the Trilby area. Although much of Washington Township has disappeared through annexation, we continue over 80 years of tradition of service to our community shown to us by our brother firefighters from the Point Place, Trilby, Alexis and Shoreland Volunteer Fire Departments. We honor their memory and hope that they would be proud of what the department has to offer today.
The WTFD EMS Bureau consists of both Engine 72 and Rescue Engine 72 pulling first out EMS duty alongside Medic 72 as Transport Unit.
The WTFD Fire Bureau consists of 1 Engine, 1 Rescue and Extrication Engine and 1 Backup Engine.
The WTFD Special Operations Bureau consists of 1 Command Unit, 1 Support Jeep, 1 Rescue Boat, 2 Hovercrafts and 1 Special Ops Trailer.
